The Atkinson Steamer was made between 1918 and 1924 and when fully loaded had a top speed of 20 k.p.h. (12 m.p.h.). The YGB03 carried the livery of Australia's Swan Brewery. Established in 1887 it is renowned for its range of lagers. The company's insignia depicts the Western Australia Black Swan. The model had a cab body and base similar to those of the Y18-2 Atkinson except for the provision of a central rib to the cab roof luggage area; the installation of one hollow boss and one base hole for the self tapping screw and the alteration to the text to read 'MADE IN CHINA (c) 1993 MATCHBOX COLLECTIBLES' and its position on the baseplate. The word 'MATCHBOX' was moved to beneath the rear axle and 'YGB03 1918 ATKINSON STEAM WAGON' put onto the bottom of water tank. The van cantainer was similar to that of the Y37-1 Garrett wagon. Regarding the tampo decoration, the colour of the water upon which the swan swims could be either a powder blue or light blue. Powder blue is paler than light blue. In 1996 models appeared on the market with YGB03 tampo printed (not cast) on the underside of the water tank, which had a smooth finish rather than textured. All YGB03 models were issued screwed to plastic display plinths.

The YGB04 displays the livery of well known British firm, Fuller's Griffin Brewery. Founded in 1845 at Chiswick, London, it has remained an independent family business producing prize-winning beers.
The YGB04 had a modified Y47-1 Lindt livery baseplate. The centrally placed open hole had been replaced with a blind hole and two raised bosses were added to accommodate self tapping screws. An additional layer of diecast had been added to obscure the orifinal cast inscription. This layer stop short of differential and so forms a distinctive change of levels across the baseplate. The revised wording '(R) 1993 MATCHBOX COLLECTIBLES' was repositioned under the near side running board; with the word 'MATCHBOX' under the other running board. The centre of the baseplate had '1929 MORRIS LIGHT VAN YGB04 MODELS OF YESTERYEAR' cast in three lines. Like the Lindt model, the bosy did not have oval side windows. Two distinctive finishes, gold or copper were applied to the plated components and wheels. The first reissued 1996 Fuller's van had the cast YGB04 removed and replaced with a white tampo printed YGB04 in the same position. The later 1996 issue had a brighter red chassis and roof with slightly deeper green body. Other changes involved the repositioning of the white tampo printed YGB04 to between the two screw hole bosses and the change from wheel hubs with end of axle visible to wheel hubs with axle end blanked off by extended hub.
All YGB04 models were issued screwed to plastic display plinths.

Established in 1664 at Strasbourg, the Kronenbourg brewery produces half the beer drunk in France!
The model carrying the 'Kronenbourg' livery was a modification of the Y25-1 Ambulance. The ambulance type roof had been retained, even with the slight defects on the top surface! The body did not have the windows or the extra cast lines; but did retain the horizontal cast line indicating the position of the bottom edge to the original van sides. The rear door panel has shallower cast lines and the edge and bottom ridges were smaller. The prominent cast rear number plate digits were deleted to give a smooth surface for the new tampo printed number plate, as was the case with the front number plate. The baseplate propshaft was altered to accommodate two bosses for self tapping screws. The centre rivet was surrounded by two raised segments. The inscription was altered to read 'MADE IN CHINA' under the neat side running boards, 'MODELS OF YESTERYEAR' under the other board and on the central part, '1993 MATCHBOX CLOOECTIBLES YGB07'. The 1996 reissue model was fitted with the new hub wheels (axle end blanked off by extended hub) and a brighter shade of red plastic roof. The plated parts appeared in a much 'brassier' gold effect. Baseplate text was revised with the deletion of the cast 'YGB07' with '1910 Renault AG' being repositioned. 'YGB07' was tampo printed in front of the wheel well under the right hand running board. 'MATCHBOX COLLECTIBLES' was cast onto a raised strip. All YGB07 models were issued screwed to plastic display plinths.

This van with its 86 b.h.p. engine could carry a ton load and was particularly popular in New Zealand. The YGB08 displayed the livery of the New Zealand Brewers Ltd., producers of Steinlager beer. It was brewed as a direct result of the New Zealand government's threat to ban imported beer. The Steinlager brand has become so well known that it now represents 98% of New Zealand's beer exports.
The 1994 model was similar the Y12-5 Goanna model; except that the baseplate open hole was replaced by two bosses for self tapping screws. Also the baseplate wording had been altered and repositioned. There are two known livery types. Type A went into initial production with a result that 200 were made prior to Steinlager approval. The New Zealand brewers asked that the design be changed so that the lettering was much larger and the red background panel be made bigger (Type B). Of the 200 Type A most were changed to the Type B. However, 72 Type A were shipped to the USA. These are extremaely rare.
The type of paint with which the body was painted was very unusual. It was dark metallic bottle green with a very faint metallic 'stardust' effect for the background. Enhancement includes silver sidelights, door handles, hinges, bonnet hinge and louvres. The paint used on some of the 1996 issues appeared to be of a lighter shade of metallic bottle green. This was due, in part, to the finer metallic grade within the paint reflecting more light. The model's series number was also changed in 1996 when the cast 'YGB08' was deleted and a tampo printed 'YGB08' applied adjacent the rear axle.

The forerunner of this truck was designed in 1914 and many of these vehicles were used by the Allies during World War I. Because of the 7.7 litre engine and the three speed gear box, this type of vehicle was ideal for civil engineering contracts, where its ruggedness could be exploited. The YGB09 carries the livery of Canada's oldest independent brewery, Moosehead, which since 1867 has been owned by the one family.
Basically similar to the Y33-1 Goodyear truck, the baseplate had an additional boss, just forward of the centre rivet, to accommodate the extra self tapping screw. The baseplate wording was also altered and rearranged to read '(c) 1994 MATCHBOX COLLECTIBLES YGB09 1920 MACK AC', with 'MADE IN CHINA' at the rear.
In 1997 the model was reissued with changes to the chassis base text which took on a smoother (less raised) finish. The (c) mark had been omitted and the cast YGB09 1920 MACK A.C. was deleted to be replaced by a white tampo printed YGB09 with '1920 MACK A.C.' below. A shortened version of 'Models of Yesteryear' was cast with the (r) mark being moved up slightly. Finally the majority of this issue sported the new capped wheels which were introduced to hide the 'press fit' axle ends (Type B). All YGB09 models were issued screwed to plastic display plinths.

This van with its 14 b.h.p. engine had a custom built body which was the normal arrangement for tradesmen's vehicles in the '20s and '30s. The model carries the striking livery of the Papua New Guinea, South Pacific Breweries.
Basically similar to the Y5-4 Lyle's Golden Syrup van; however the inscription on the baseplate had to be repositioned to accommodate the two bosses for the self tapping screws. The inscription then read 'MADE IN CHINA (c) 1993 MATCHBOX COLLECTIBLES YGB10'. The details of the roof's internal downward projecting flange reverted to the no hole type which was standard before the Macau production of 'Roses' and 'Lyle's' models, which have two holes in the flange. The colour scheme of the YGB10 was well received by collectors. Improved tampo printing achieved a greater number of colours and different shades or tones of a colour. This quality was so good that many thought that the decoration had been achieved by a label.
The 1996 issue saw the introduction of a tampo print YGB10 as wall as original cast YGB10 on the baseplate. In 1997, the baseplate text was changed again. This time the cast Models of Yesteryear and Matchbox Collectibles were removed together with the cast YGB10 and replaced by printed versions. The tampo printed Matchbox Collectibles Models of Yesteryear was positioned below the cast Matchbox legend YGB10 installed beneath the left running board after the cast text Made in China. All YGB10 models were issued screwed to plastic display plinths.

This was the second time that the 'T' van had been in the 'Great Beers of the World' series; the first being the YGB02 'Beck & Co'. The model showed the livery of the very small but well known San Francisco, USA, company, Anchor brewery, which has been in existence since 1896. Some difficulties were encountered at the factory in reproducing the Anchor livery to a high enough standard acceptable to the brewery. Although, basically similar to the 'Beck & Co' model, the side oval windows never appeared on this model. The cast digits YGB02 were replaced by tampo printed YGB13. Initially the tampo printed 'MADE IN CHINA' and '1926 FORD 'TT'' descriptions had been omitted. In 1996 the YGB13 was reissued with a number of variations. The first reissue had the 'MADE IN CHINA' restored in white tampo and the gold tampo to the foot plates changed from five lines to four lines. Shortly after this discovery the second reissue appeared. This time as per the 1995 issue, but with a completely new body side logo tampo being used producing a much less cluttered, but clearer logo.

Founded in the late 18th century, Garrett is a well known English engineering company, which built their first steam wagon in 1904. After many developments, the firm designed and built a powerful and smooth running engine. Unusually, the driver was positioned at one side of the boiler. The YGB15 displayed the livery of exceptionally fine ale brewery 'Flower & Sons' which was established in 1831 at Stratford-upon-Avon, England.
Basically the same the Y37-1 Chubb and Milkmaid wagons, the YGB15 had an amended baseplate; the single screw hole had been replaced with a boss and an additional boss cast adjacent to the front axle, for the self tapping screws. The inscription had been altered to read '(c) 1995 MATCHBOX COLLECTABLES MADE IN CHINA' and 'YGB15'. In 1996 however, the rear fixing screw hole boss was moved rearwards by 4 mm, and a tell-tail casting 'disc' mark remained in the original position. All YGB15 models were issued screwed to plastic display plinths.

This Model 'T' van was the second time it had appeared within the 'Great Beers of the World' series and was in the livery of America's oldest brewery. Founded in 1829 and located in Pottsville, Pennsylvania, U.S.A. the Yuengling family brewery has prospered through five generations. Their trademark, the American Eagle, symbolises strength, pride and quality - the same characteristics Yuenglings strives for in their products. Issued in the latter part of 1996 the model only appeared with the closed wheel hubs. The cast baseplate text was in the same format as on the 1996, YGB14, but the white tampo printed series number was now beneath the right side cab adjacent to where the original cast series number was deleted. The gold painted running boards now stopped short each side of the central 'Ford' logo. A more noticeable change to the model was the introduction of a new windscreen casting havng side lights some 7 mm higher than before. The unusual bosy colour of a 'inky' red colour be found in finishes of satin through to gloss. All YGB19 models were issued, screwed to plastic display plinths.
